Storytelling with data: a masterclass
Michael Milner-Watt, speechwriter and former Head of Global Leadership Communications, KPMG

The way you as a Finance person communicate what you know to your internal audience is critical; and yet it’s a skill that’s not a natural strongpoint for many Finance teams. Finance professionals are trained to be precise and thorough, but precision and thoroughness rarely persuade senior stakeholders. Have you ever wondered how very senior executives communicate so effectively? Their secret is the speechwriter. In this session we’ll be joined by one of the world’s most experienced speechwriters, Michael Milner-Watt, for a masterclass in good communication and storytelling. Michael has coached numerous senior executives, having been Head of Global Leadership Communications at KPMG, Head of Executive Communications at Standard Chartered Bank, and Speechwriter to the CEO at HSBC. Michael started his career as a journalist, and was Editor of Investment Banking and Capital Markets at The Banker magazine, part of the Financial Times group. Few people have written as many words for as many chief executives on as many Finance topics as Michael has.

In this session, Michael will draw on that experience to show you how to communicate with the same clarity and impact expected of a chief executive: structuring a message, choosing language that works, and turning technical detail into a narrative stakeholders will actually remember.

This is an online event open to member CFOs and their team members in the region.
