Rise of the humanoids: how you can prepare your business and team for AI’s ‘jobs apocalypse’
Luke Soon, AI ethicist, author of Genesis: Human Experience in the Age of AI
The New York Times recently called it the “AI jobs apocalypse”. Within a year, technology observers expect, 27-30% of roles will be capable of being performed by AI. It’s a transformation that has the potential to forever change the way your company does business, and will certainly have a significant impact on your Finance team. Our guest, AI philosopher and PWC Partner Luke Soon, calls it “crossing the chasm". It’s also been described as a “world without work”. How can we stay ahead of a technology that’s improving exponentially, and have we really thought about how the deployment of agentic AI will impact our workforces, and indeed our customers? The author of several books looking at humans, work and meaning in the era of artificial intelligence, Luke is well placed to outline what the brave new world could look like, and how we can manage the speedy transition. The Global CFO Network is delighted to be hosting Luke, and will share a copy of his latest book, Synthesis, with all attendees.
Building a productive relationship with your CIO and IT team
David Tay, Chief Information Officer - Asia, Lendlease
While most CFOs would agree that technology can be a transformational driver of business growth, many multinationals struggle to align global IT initiatives with local need, and fail to derive as much value from their IT functions as they potentially could. So what makes a really great IT function, and how can the CFOs of multinational subsidiaries benchmark the performance of their own technology teams? The Global CFO Network has invited David Tay, CIO of global construction and real estate investor and operator Lendlease to share his experience working with Finance, and to provide some insights into how to develop a construction CFO-CIO relationship in the context of regional operations of multinationals, where reporting lines and objectives are often complex and can be misaligned. David’s background includes both IT and commercial roles. He was previously CIO of engineering business Beyonics, prior to which he held a P&L leadership role as Regional Vice President of Diebold Nixdorf. In his current role, he leads technology for Lendlease, the Australian-headquartered property developer behind sites such 313@somerset and Paya Lebar Quarter in Singapore, and The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur.
